TEXT: Food for Today, Glencoe/McGraw-Hill
ASSESSMENT:
NOTE: Both attendance and participation
are vital to the successful completion of this class! Laboratory
assignments may be made up by students with excused absences; however,
make-up assignments must meet the instructor's criteria. A small
sample of the completed project, along with a parent/guardian-signed evaluation,
is required to receive credit (NO EXCEPTIONS!). It is the STUDENT'S
RESPONSIBILITY to contact the instructor to receive missing assignments
and arrange make-up activities.
REQUIRED AND/OR RECOMMENDED MATERIALS:
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. BE HERE! BE ON
TIME!
Attend class
regularly. A successful school experience is directly proportional
to regular class attendance. Work missed as a result of a truant
absence may not be made up.
Be in your
seat and ready to work when the bell rings.
Remain in
the classroom until the passing bell rings.
2. COME PREPARED:
Bring necessary
materials to class (binder, paper, pen, pencil)
3. RESPECT SELF, OTHERS, PROPERTY:
Behave in
a respectful way towards self, classmates, teacher, classroom, and school.
Listen and
stay seated when someone is talking
4. USE TIME EFFICIENTLY:
Complete assignments
in a timely manner. (Points are deducted for late assignments.)
5. PLEASE: NO GUM!
NO SODAS! MAKEUP OUT-OF-SIGHT!
6. PARTICIPATE
CONSEQUENCES: A pattern of truant
absences (five or more) will result in a teacher-generated telephone contact
with parent. If student accumulates 10 truancies, he/she will be
referred to his/her assigned counselor. Students who are either late
for class or leave before the passing bell rings, disruptive or off-task,
chewing gum, or drinking sodas in class are subject to receiving a 20-minute
detention. Detentions are to be served in Room 33 on the day following
issuance (or as otherwise assigned), performing community service tasks
designated by instructor. Failure to serve a 20-minute detention
in timely fashion will result in a 40-minute detention, which must be served
with campus supervisors. If the 40-minute detention is not served,
a referral will be submitted to the assistant principal's office.
